Summit Pack Away Ultra Lightweight Folding Camp Chair £29.99
- Chair weighs 1.46kg
- Durable and lightweight
- Quick assembly
- Comes with carry bag
The first thing to highlight about this chair is the compact size and low weight (it weighs just 1.46kg) making it easy to carry with you, whether you are going camping or out and about.
The frame of the chair is very fast and easy to assemble, requiring bungee attached poles to be slotted into each other. The chair seat and back itself then slots easily into place on the frame, taking perhaps a minute or 2 in total to put up.
Despite the diminutive size, the chair feels sturdy enough, though you do need to keep your weight centralised rather than leaning too far back on it which can cause it to tip onto the back legs.
This is a great chair for backpacking adventures or for kids at the campsite, and although it’s perfectly large enough to accommodate an adult, it’s not the most comfortable camp chair I’ve owned.
However, thanks to the really small and light pack size this would make the chair a good choice for backpackers or those who are short on space.
Compared to a similarly designed compact rival like the Helinox Chair One, the Summit Pack Away is heavier (940g vs 1.46kg), but the Helinox One Chair retails at around £80, whereas the Summit chair is significantly cheaper at £29.99.
For everyday camping I prefer a more stable chair, and as I’m a car camper and not restricted on space I tend to prefer comfort and stability over a small size, but if it’s a lighweight chair you’re looking for, then the Summit Pack Away Chair has a lot going for it.
Keen pricing, small pack size, low weight and ease of assembly make this a solid option for backpackers and hikers, and it also makes a great choice for kids thanks to it being lower to the ground than a traditional camp chair.
